Finding the right counsellor for you matters. you have to feel safe to share what you feel, fear and struggle with. My aim is to create a non judgemental, calm and secure setting for you to bring your whole self. I offer Clinical supervision with the same person centred approach, providing a space for therapists to grow, reflect, and feel supported in their work.
Hi, I’m Emma a qualified person-centred counsellor and supervisor, that means I work in a way that’s genuine, grounded, and honest. I qualified as a counsellor in 2011 and I have 9 years experience working as a school based counsellor with both secondary and primary aged children. I have provided telephone counselling to family carers to support them with their caring responsibilities and the impact that can have. I have also worked with adult survivors of rape and sexual abuse at a Sexual Assualt Refferral Centre (SARC). Across my career I have had the privilage of working with hundreds of clients and a variety of issues, in that time I have developed a special interest in working with individuals bereaved by suicide and the complexities around that.
Counselling is a role that comes naturally to me. I’ve always been someone who people turn to for support, and I’m drawn to people whether that is people watching whilst out and about, watching reality TV (much to my husbands dismay!) or popping to the shops and hearing the check out assistants life story. People facinate me and I am so honoured and privilaged that people choose to trust me in their most vulnerable, stuck or lost moments. I have been asked by clients "what did you think of me at the start?" my answer is always the same I have the greatest respect for anyone who can look at their life and decide they want to make changes.
The best part of my role is to witness the growth my incredible clients make, it is amazing to be by your side as you celebrate your wins no matter how big or small
Over the years, I’ve helped people with a wide range of issues, including:
Alongside my degree in Sociology and Psychology, my Counselling Diploma and my Supervision qualifications I have continued to develop my skills and training, some specialist training I have undertaken has been:
In addition to my counselling work, I also offer clinical supervision to other counsellors. Clinical supervision is a vital part of our profession, where counsellors receive guidance, support, and a reflective space to ensure they’re providing the best possible service to their clients. It’s an essential part of maintaining ethical standards and personal wellbeing in our practice.
What makes this particularly significant is that being a clinical supervisor means I’m involved in guiding and mentoring other counsellors, helping them develop professionally and ensuring they provide ethical, effective care. This experience gives me a deeper level of expertise than what is typically expected of a counsellor. As a supervisor, I’m continually engaged in ongoing professional development and reflective practice, which directly enhances the work I do with my clients.
When you work with me, my focus is always on you as an individual. I’ll meet you where you are, and I’ll be alongside you, creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore, understand, and make sense of what’s going on in your life.
Life is busy, emotions are messy but you matter and you deserve to feel happy, calm, peaceful, and fulfilled.
